Thanks and Happy New Year

The second year of Ambient Music Blog has come to a close and I’d like to thank those of you who have stopped by in that time, wherever you might be.

Personally, I’m thinking about ways to make 2009 the year where the things I do on the web are more for me than they are for other people. I’m not exactly sure just how I’m going to do that yet, or if I’ll be successful, but I plan on Ambient Music Blog being a big part of it.

Thanks again, and good luck.

“I still find a wall of distorted guitar sounds extremely interesting, and that’s why I’m still using it.”

A really nice interview with Christian Fennesz just before the release of his recent Black Sea album.

eMusic Q&A: William Basinski

“And then I moved to San Francisco in 1978 and heard Brian Eno’s Music for Airports playing in my friend’s art studio, and that just totally blew my mind and took me to this melancholic place where I felt like, this is what I want to go after.”

Recently received a disc of a net release from James Devane. It’s a series of “nine live performance excerpts featuring continuously accumulating loops filtered through different processes.”

It’s really well done. There’s a physical release scheduled for May, 2009. In the meantime, you can download the entire set of .mp3’s as a .zip. Stream the tracks below to get a taste.

“AtmoWorks.com is a label owned and operated by Vir Unis, John Koch-Northrup, and Matt McDonough working in concert with a team of dynamic and talented individuals to bring you the best in electronic music. AtmoWorks was founded in 2001.”

They’ve put out some nice work. Have a look around. I’ll be featuring some of the records in particular in the coming weeks.

Well, I’ve had some turkey and all that goes with it, and I’ve settled in here with a nice drink. For those of you that celebrate these things, Merry Christmas, and thanks for reading. And to everyone else, have a really nice Thursday evening.
