Stars of the Lid Touring Europe & North America

Ambient Music Blog favorites Stars of the Lid have announced tour dates, their first in over 5 years, for Europe this fall.
Whats even more exciting is that the duo is planning to add North American dates beginning in April 2008. I’m definitely looking forward to this! More news available on their official site.
Wordless Music Series Schedule Firmed Up

I’ve posted about this before, but for the New Yorkers reading, you should know that it looks like the fall program for the Wordless Music Series has firmed up. I’ve got tickets for the November 11th performance of Múm, Hauschka, and Bing and Ruth/David Moore. Quite a few other great performances are scheduled, including shows featuring Colleen and Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood.

My brief blogging vacation is just about over, and so it seems like a good time to mention an interesting collaboration. Christian Fennesz and Mike Patton are doing a brief European tour together. I’m certainly hoping to hear a recording of some of this at some point.

Epic Instrumental Night on Now Like Photographs

I mentioned them the other day, and so it’s appropriate to let you know that tonight, June 10th 2007 at 9pm CST, is the first installment in a live event that Now Like Photographs is calling “Epic Instrumental Night.” The music will be recorded live from St. Paul, MN and looks to feature the bands Empires, Dreamless, History, and Box Elder.
This is a good chance to listen to some bands and music you might not otherwise have heard of.

Mutek Festival, Loscil Webcast

I can’t really suss out exactly when it will be, or how to listen, firstly because the Web sites are a bit obtuse, and secondly because my Francaise is un peu rough, but tomorrow at the Mutek Festival in Montreal Loscil is performing and there is an alleged webcast. The Wordless Music Series

Sadly, I remember hearing about the most recent of edition of The Wordless Music Series, “An Evening in Honor of the Kranky Label,” but I missed it anyway. Ambient Music Blog favorites Loscil and Brian McBride, along with The Caleb Burhans String Quartet performed.
I’ll definitely be paying attention next time around in the fall when the 2007-2008 series gets under way. In the meantime, Good Vibrato, the blog of The Wordless Music Series, has a nice selection of tracks for download.
