When I started this site, I made the conscious decision to only write about music I found interesting and enjoyable.

Ideally, the net result of me writing about a record here is someone reads what I wrote, and takes a look at the record or artist mentioned. Writing about music I don’t like means someone will read and stay away from artists or records. Which means they’ve spent time reading something and they’re life ends up exactly the same as it had been before they read the site. Not particularly useful, I think.

In addition to the practical matter, I’m also just not particularly interested in participating music writing that is more about the writer being clever or hip or fabulous. I’m interested in listening to good music, and thinking and writing about why I like it.

Artists and their representatives send me copies of records all the time. This is great! All of the above is essentially the long way around or me saying that if you send me a record, and I don’t like it, you’re not going to find anything about it on this site. I write about stuff I like, I don’t mention stuff I don’t like.

So, if you’ve got music you think I’d be interested in hearing, please send it my way. You can send links for downloads or requests for a postal address to: ambientmusicblog (at) gmail.com
